What is CEMRO?
CEMRO, also known as the California Emergency Medicine Residents’ Organization, is a grassroots venture by EM residents for the EM residents of California. The aim is simple: provide excellent value, opportunities, and support without barriers to our members.
So, is CEMRO the same as EMRA, Cal/ACEP, or AAEM/RSA?
In one word: No! The longer version: We do not have any official ties with them, including agendas and/or political views. CEMRO is a completely independent entity from other organizations and associations. At CEMRO, we pride ourselves in offering our members a completely unique range of benefits and opportunities which no other resident-based organization provides. CEMRO does not view EMRA, Cal/ACEP  or AAEM/RSA as competing organizations, rather we see them as complementary organizations.
What are these "3 Pillars" I keep reading about?
CEMRO was founded upon the ideal of 3 main ideas: novel offerings, no barriers, accessible support. By providing unique goods, support, and services without any hurdles to the emergency medicine residents of California, we successfully achieve our mission.
Why should I join?
As big as a cliche’ as it is, you should ask yourself “why shouldn’t I join?” We challenge you to come up with a good reason not to join CEMRO. If you do think of one, by all means let us know so that we can continue to improve and develop to meet the needs of emergency medicine trainees. For a more extensive list of benefits from joining CEMRO, see cemro.org/services
How do I join?
Simply click the join button at the top of this page or on the bottom of this page… or click HERE.
What does it cost to be a member?
Zero dollars and no cents… In order to satisfy our “no barriers” ideal, CEMRO is 100% free to join and utilize. Donations are absolutely welcome, but we do not require any funds for you to become a member.
Are there leadership opportunities available?
Absolutely, see cemro.org/leadership-opportunities/ for a current list of available positions. If you do not see a suitable opportunity, be sure to check back often as our need for strong leaders continues to grow. We are also open to creative ideas and appreciate any thoughtful leadership suggestions you may have considered but found to be not yet implemented at CEMRO.
As a medical student, can I join?
Yes, you can join CEMRO! However, medical students are not yet eligible for several of the benefits that residents receive. However, active students DO get educational materials, the opportunity to become a team leader, and the chance to further demonstrate their interest and dedication to the state of California before their residency application cycle. Ties are important. Full resident membership can be unlocked after you match EM in CA.
What is the anonEMous Network™?
The anonEMous Network™ is a venture born out of CEMRO which aims to provide emergency medicine residents across the country a channel to reach out and get support from other residents. The identities are masked, locations are hidden, conversations encrypted and never stored. Residents can rest-assured that they are truly anonymous on The anonEMous Network™ without risk of their co-residents, seniors, attendings, or program directors finding out matters which you are currently uncomfortable sharing for whatever personal reason. The anonEMous Network™ is not intended for medical advice or replacement of pursuing professional help when warranted. Rather, the resource serves to fill a gap: to offer you support whenever you need it, free of stigma or judgement.
